Chicago Architectural boat tour...

...the Saturday before Labor Day (2013) we made an evening Architectural boat tour
that made its way up all three branches of the Chicago river
and ended with a fireworks display over lake Michigan...

...the amazing low-light capability of the Nikon D7000 made these images possible...
...all shots are hand held shots, even the fireworks!

Juan, our tour guide did a great job telling us the history of Chicago
and the origins of these amazing buildings...

If you see a clock tower in Chicago, chances are
that building is one of the older buildings in town.

paper anyone?
open bridge over the river
looks cool going under it too!

'Sears' tower, now called something else,
but no self-respecting Chicagoite would call it anything else...

..sometimes it just calls for B&W...

this power plant just looked cool in silhouette

a very prominent architect lift 'circles' all over town...
I like how folks have put colored lights on their balconies...

...a lot of Chicago's founders and big wigs built monuments to themselves
and put "crowns" on the top of their buildings...

another crown!

NBC

They shoot this water fountain over the river for 10 minutes every hour.
You may want to wait until it's over until you pass...

the last fireworks display of the Summer over the lake...
